HUNT VALLEY, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–While the travel industry has seen a rise in luxury travel over the past several years, a low percentage of people identify themselves as luxury travelers.
“Our travel styles are all different, and it is important for travel companies to understand that”
According to a survey by Arch RoamRight travel insurance, just 6% of respondents described their travel style as “luxury.” This low percentage could possibly be due to a common misconception as to what defines luxury travel.
“Luxury travel is not just marble floors and private jets,” said Cory Sobczyk, Vice President of Business Development for Arch RoamRight. “Luxury travel is about tailored experiences, curated by some of the most knowledgeable destination experts. It can involve anything from finding the perfect Paris hotel room with a view of the Eiffel Tower to personal guided hikes through a rainforest.”
Transforming ordinary tourism into a luxury experience with the help of a travel advisor
While a small percentage self-identify as luxury travelers, 42% of travelers describe their travel style as “tourist/sightseeing.” For those who want to transform their sightseeing trip into a luxury travel experience of a lifetime, the right travel expert can make all the difference.
“There are many travel advisors with varying areas of expertise, including those who are versed in planning luxury trips,” said Sobczyk. “The right travel advisor can draw from a wealth of knowledge to elevate the travel experience.”
The percentages identifying as “adventure” travelers and “relaxing” travelers are nearly equal
The survey conducted on roamright.com also showed that travelers are equally as likely to describe their travel style as “adventure” (26%) as they are to describe their travel style as “relaxing” (25%).
“Our travel styles are all different, and it is important for travel companies to understand that,” said Sobczyk. “At Arch RoamRight, we have insured travelers who are bungee jumping in Belize and others who are putting their feet up under a cabana in the Bahamas. Our travel insurance plans are designed to provide coverages for both of these travelers and the travelers in between.”
