Whitlock promoted to position
Sydney, 06 October 2026 – Arch Insurance Australia (Arch) today announced the appointment of Andrew Whitlock as Head of Casualty, effective immediately.
In this role, Whitlock is responsible for the overall leadership of the team, underwriting strategy and growth of the retail Casualty portfolio across Australia. The portfolio spans primary and excess liability placements across a broad risk appetite, with a core focus on products-led risks including manufacturing, wholesale, retail, importing and exporting. Based in Sydney, he reports to Dominic Brannigan, Managing Director, and will work closely with James Mecham, Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer for Long Tail Lines and Head of General Casualty for Arch Insurance International.
Whitlock was most recently the Northern Region Casualty Underwriting Manager at Arch having joined the company in January 2026. Prior to this, he was a Casualty Segment Leader, Major Accounts Division for Chubb in Australia. He has also previously held broking roles at Brown & Brown in London.
Commenting on the announcement, Brannigan said: “Andrew’s promotion is a well-deserved recognition of the impact he has made since joining Arch. His contribution to the growth of our Northern Region portfolio has been significant, and he has demonstrated the leadership, commitment and commercial focus needed to take our business forward. We’re confident he will play an important role in strengthening our presence and Casualty offering across Australia, while continuing to deliver outstanding support to our brokers.”
Mecham added: “Andrew’s appointment is a positive step for our continued growth plans in Casualty across our international platform, strengthening the alignment between our retail operations in Australia and our wholesale team in the London Market. I look forward to working with him as we deliver on our strategy in what remains a core line of business for Arch.”
