BT has announced it will close all Redcare operations next year as part of a strategy to simplify its business portfolio.
As a result, Redcare customers will need to replace their alarm signalling equipment before this date and preferably as soon as possible. This is to avoid likely issues with high demand for the supply and fit of alternative signalling products from other providers the closer we get to 1 August 2025.
Many policyholders will already need to do this to ensure continued service after the ongoing All IP Network migration, which is scheduled for completion in late 2025.
BT Redcare was established more than 30 years ago and is the largest supplier of fire and security alarm signalling services in the U.K., working in both the commercial and domestic markets.
Redcare services will officially terminate on 1 August 2025. BT continued to accept new Redcare orders until 29 February 2024, and is waiving early termination charges for existing orders from 1 March 2024.
Policyholders should check to ensure that any proposed replacement alarm signalling system is acceptable to their insurers, as there will be specific requirements within the underwriting of their policy that must continue to be met.
